Raising Awareness About Life

“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

~1 Thessalonians 5:18

I had a gratitude journal back during my second year of college. Looking back on it now, I realize how important it was in helping me maintain a valuable perspective on life during what was a very trying year. Plus, it’s sometimes hilarious re-reading it and trying to remember the events I was referring to.

It doesn’t matter how big or small something is; God deserves thanks for every gift He gives His children. Sometimes it may feel like you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, but there’s always something there to be thankful for. I find this to be especially more important now that my life is consumed with illnesses that in all likelihood will never go away. Are you alive today? There’s always that.

Monday, August 6th:

  • I started a new book.

Tuesday, August 7th:

  • I managed to wash my hair two days in a row!
  • Even though I only got 3 hours of non-restful sleep (thank you, Zoe), I managed to stay up all day.

Wednesday, August 8th:

  • Umm…well…I slept all day. Literally. My Fitbit says from 3:21 am to 12:15 am. That’s what a crash is like, people.

Thursday, August 9th:

  • I didn’t do the bad thing I really wanted to do.
  • Sometimes crying for hours is actually helpful.
  • I survived the day. Thank goodness for Klonopin. And Holly.

Friday, August 10th:

  • I felt much better.
  • I made some interesting genealogical discoveries.

Saturday, August 11th:

  • I read a good chunk of a book.
  • I had really bad pain in the usual spot medial to my left shoulder blade, but thank goodness for this stuff.

Sunday, August 12th:

  • It was my father-in-law’s birthday, and I am very grateful to have him in my life!
  • It was a much better mental health day.
  • I got a lot of editing done for upcoming posts for The Unchargeables.

What are YOU grateful for this week?
