Weekly Gratitudes: September 3, 2018
“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
~1 Thessalonians 5:18
I had a gratitude journal back during my second year of college. Looking back on it now, I realize how important it was in helping me maintain a valuable perspective on life during what was a very trying year. Plus, it’s sometimes hilarious re-reading it and trying to remember the events I was referring to.
It doesn’t matter how big or small something is; God deserves thanks for every gift He gives His children. Sometimes it may feel like you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, but there’s always something there to be thankful for. I find this to be especially more important now that my life is consumed with illnesses that in all likelihood will never go away. Are you alive today? There’s always that.
Monday, September 3rd:
- My Mom is here to visit for a few days!
- I slept allllll day. Still crashing after the outing to see Hamilton two weeks ago.
- Somehow, I managed to win TWO Goodreads giveaways on the same day! And these were books that I calculated I had a 1.4% and 0.6% chance of winning. YAY BOOKS! 📚
Tuesday, September 4th:
- Today is the 14th anniversary of when my husband and I met as 18-year-old freshmen living in the same dorm just starting pharmacy school. 😊 Unfortunately, today I also found out, by complete coincidence, that said dorm was torn down this past June. 😢😭
- I had a nice long conversation with my mom about stuff going on in my life.
Wednesday, September 5th:
- I found out that our fearless leader, Natalie, and The Unchargeables were selected out of 4,000 nominees as one of five finalists in the Best in Show: Community category for the WEGO Health Awards! This is a HUGE deal! Our community works hard to reach out to others with chronic illness to let them know they’re not alone. I am proud to be part of that!
Thursday, September 6th:
- See, when you sleep all day, you forget everything that happened that day…
Friday, September 7th:
- I managed to stay up for over 24 hours in an attempt to get myself off a nocturnal sleep schedule. It was strange to be awake during the day!
- I read an entire book that I highly recommend, especially for any theater people: White Hot Grief Parade by Alexandra Silber.
Saturday, September 8th:
- I won another Goodreads giveaway! This one was for a Kindle book that I had a 37% chance of winning.
- It was only in the 60s today and not humid! A delightful taste of fall!
Sunday, September 9th:
- Thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Gordon, it poured all day and was only in the 50s! My POTSie body loved it!
What are YOU grateful for this week? Share in the comments!
