“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

~1 Thessalonians 5:18

I had a gratitude journal back during my second year of college. Looking back on it now, I realize how important it was in helping me maintain a valuable perspective on life during what was a very trying year. Plus, it’s sometimes hilarious re-reading it and trying to remember the events I was referring to.

It doesn’t matter how big or small something is; God deserves thanks for every gift He gives His children. Sometimes it may feel like you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, but there’s always something there to be thankful for. I find this to be especially more important now that my life is consumed with illnesses that in all likelihood will never go away. Are you alive today? There’s always that.

Monday, August 27th:

  • I was so exhausted, I slept for a full 24 hours. But I guess that means I needed it.
  • Molly perked up after getting fluids at the vet, although she still won’t eat, probably due to her fever.
  • New library books! And sometimes I feel so special being the first person in my city to take out a brand new just-released book!

Tuesday, August 28th:

  • I got Molly to purr (for the first time in four days) around 3:30 am!
  • Molly had a good long sleep with me all day. And when she got up…she ate and drank!

Wednesday, August 29th:

  • Molly sought out snuggles! Our girl is back!

Thursday, August 30th:

  • Definitely a “scraping the bottom of the barrel” day. It was a pretty bad pain day for me. But I eventually fell asleep and slept most of the day after being up all night in pain, so at least there’s that.

Friday, August 31st:

  • After sleeping for almost 12 hours, I spent all day reading and it was marvelous.
  • Molly is now whacking, hissing, and growling at her children, which means she is completely back to her normal self.
  • It was my daddy’s birthday and I am so very grateful that he is MY daddy!

Saturday, September 1st:

  • IT’S FINALLY SEPTEMBER! PRAISE GOD!
  • It’s multi-kitty birthday day in our house! Today, Molly is 9 and Casper, Nala, Chloe, and Zoe are 8! All seven of our kitties are now officially geriatric.

Sunday, September 2nd:

  • In the wee hours, I finished beta reading the first section of a novel for a blogger from Northern Ireland I know. I’m so grateful to be able to play a part in hopefully getting his book published!
  • I finished reading Dopesick by Beth Macy. I insist everyone read it. It is such an important book with the way things are right now.

What are YOU grateful for this week?
