“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

~1 Thessalonians 5:18

I had a gratitude journal back during my second year of college. Looking back on it now, I realize how important it was in helping me maintain a valuable perspective on life during what was a very trying year. Plus, it’s sometimes hilarious re-reading it and trying to remember the events I was referring to.

It doesn’t matter how big or small something is; God deserves thanks for every gift He gives His children. Sometimes it may feel like you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, but there’s always something there to be thankful for. I find this to be especially more important now that my life is consumed with illnesses that in all likelihood will never go away. Are you alive today? There’s always that.

Monday, August 20th:

  • I got some necessary writing done that I honestly really didn’t want to do. But someone had to do it and I’m glad I was able to manage.

Tuesday, August 21st:

  • I had three (3!) library holds come in. But I’m going to wait until the last minute to pick them up so I can try to finish another library book first.
  • Well, I slept all day. But I guess I needed it.

Wednesday, August 22nd:

  • I’ve been waiting for this day for months…

  • Yes, we got to see the Philip Cast of the National Tour of Hamilton! We were two of only 60,000 people who managed to score tickets for the six-week run. The excitement! What would be my favorite song live? Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down)? Burn? It’s Quiet Uptown? (Yes, I’m an emotional sadist when it comes to musicals). The winner…

Fans of the musical know which song this is…😉

Thursday, August 23rd:

  • I published a blog post about Red Roller, my new rollator!
  • I slept all day because I was up until 9 am due to pain and just being wired from seeing Hamilton, but it was a good sleep.
  • I got a sweet card from an endo sister that made me smile!
  • I had another library hold come in. Now I have FOUR books on the holdshelf to pick up by Monday! Oh dear…

Friday, August 24th:

  • It was a delightfully chilly night, in the mid-50s (I was up until 4 am), so I opened all the windows. Fall will be here soon…🍁
  • I read a good chunk of a book.

Saturday, August 25th:

  • I finished a really good book!

Sunday, August 26th:

  • Grateful for caffeine! It helped me stay up for almost a full 24 hours so I could monitor Molly, who seems to have caught a kitty cold. She was super congested, had a fever, and wouldn’t drink, so I had to force-feed her water with a syringe.
  • I guess I’m also grateful that being married to a pharmacist means being able to find random syringes in random lab coats around the house…
Zoe and Nala giving Molly the “healing kitty touch.”

What are YOU grateful for this week?

Love this post. I’m working on getting into the habit (& funnily enough wrote on a similar theme this weekend. I have the perfect journal waiting to be used & will be starting a Gratitude Journal today.
