Weekly Gratitudes: August 13, 2018
“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
~1 Thessalonians 5:18
I had a gratitude journal back during my second year of college. Looking back on it now, I realize how important it was in helping me maintain a valuable perspective on life during what was a very trying year. Plus, it’s sometimes hilarious re-reading it and trying to remember the events I was referring to.
It doesn’t matter how big or small something is; God deserves thanks for every gift He gives His children. Sometimes it may feel like you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, but there’s always something there to be thankful for. I find this to be especially more important now that my life is consumed with illnesses that in all likelihood will never go away. Are you alive today? There’s always that.
Monday, August 13th:
- An amazing day with lots of amazingness! (Blog post coming eventually.)
- Finally got a library card and checked out some books!
- I got a little care package from my cousin and I’m so excited about it!
Tuesday, August 14th:
- I didn’t crash nearly as badly as I thought I would after the busy day I had Monday.
- I finished a book, even though I thought it was really bad. But maybe others won’t think so, so feel free to check it out here.
Wednesday, August 15th:
- I am helping to beta-read two novels. How did that happen?
Thursday, August 16th:
- Started the first of four library books I took out, The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion.
- Spent some quality time on the library’s website, creating lists of the books I plan to borrow!
Friday, August 17th:
- I did a lot of reading and editing.
- Two books I put on hold at the library were ready for pickup already! I sense some necessary renewals in my future…
- We got some rain!
- The results from my doctor’s appointment and labs all came back perfect! Thyroid is great, no brain tumor in sight, and my lady parts are as they should be!
Saturday, August 18th:
- Well, I had a migraine, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been.
- I was also really bradycardic in the evening, but managed to not die overnight.
- I started a book, but I really can’t get into it, so I may just return it to the library.
- I got a care package from a fellow endo sister and it made me so happy!
Sunday, August 19th:
- Zoe decided to barf on the bedsheets at 6 am (luckily for me, on David’s side). So I washed the sheets, which were due for their monthly washing anyway, so I guess that worked out all right.
What are YOU grateful for this week?
