Endometriosis: A Profound Effect on the Women of our World

As Endometriosis Awareness Month continues…who knew that a word prompt could be so fruitful? Here is my first blog post in response to a word prompt, and it just so happens to be about endometriosis! ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ—

This is the first time I have done one of WordPressโ€™s Daily Word Prompt Challenges, so I hope I am doing it correctly. Todayโ€™s word is profound, and *cue the cheese* it had a profound effect on me.

I, and 176 million other women on this planet we call Earth, suffer from a disease called endometriosis. That number equals out to aboutย 1 in 10 women. So letโ€™s say you know about 100 women. That means 10 of them have endometriosis whether they know it or not. But itโ€™s a disease almost no one has heard of. How can this be? Because itโ€™s a โ€œbelow-the-waistโ€ issue, which has been an area of the female body that people feel ashamed to talk about due to cultural taboos that exist to this day. So what? Letโ€™s talk about it.

  1. Yes, profound! Profoundly painful and profoundly silent, even shameful, profoundly difficult, even devastating. I like your push here to break the silence. Hope you’re doing well Rx!!
